Benefits of a Training Partner
I just got back from the gym and I feel the need to express how much better my workouts are when I have a training partner. Not that my workouts are lacking when I am on my own but when I have a training partner with me I feel like I get a lot more accomplished. First off having a training partner with you enables you to lift more weight because you have a spotter. I know when I am on my own at the gym I won’t attempt lifting as much as when I have someone spotting me. That being said you can always ask a fellow gym patron for a spot.
Second, if you are anything like me you are very competitive. When I am working out with my training partner I always try to best him at whatever we are doing. I seem to push myself just that little bit more so I don’t get left behind. However, I always make sure that I am not putting myself in danger by lifting more than I am capable of, that would simply be ill-advised. Finally, it’s always good to have someone there to encourage you. More often than not you will find yourself encouraging whoever you are working out with to give that extra effort and vice versa. For me, a few encouraging words goes a long way when trying to get those last few reps out.
Anyway, that is all for this blog. Just a little food for thought. Next time you’re heading to the gym, ring a buddy and see if they are interested in getting a workout in.
